Delete your Kautio account
Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, contacts, check-in history, and associated data. This action cannot be undone.
What happens when you delete your account:
- Your profile is deleted immediately. Encrypted backups containing your data are automatically expired within 30 days.
- A minimal audit record of each check-in's schedule and notification outcomes — timestamps, which contacts were notified and whether delivery succeeded; no location, notes, photos, or descriptions — is kept for 7 years after each check-in ends, including past account deletion, for legal-compliance purposes. A hashed, non-reversible identifier derived from your phone number may be retained solely for audit and fraud-prevention purposes, for a limited period. Before you confirm deletion in the app, Kautio shows you the reference IDs of these records so you can keep them; afterwards Kautio can no longer connect them to you on its own.
- Your contact links are removed from both sides. Contacts are not notified.
- Any active check-ins are cancelled.
- Remaining credits are forfeited and cannot be refunded.
- If you have an active subscription, cancel it through your device's subscription settings (App Store or Google Play) to stop future charges. Deleting your Kautio account does not automatically cancel your subscription billing.
How to delete your account:
Option 1: In the app
Go to Settings > Account > Delete account. Follow the confirmation prompts.
Option 2: By email
If you cannot access the app, email support@kautio.app with the phone number associated with your account and a line confirming you understand deletion is permanent. We verify your identity and process the deletion within 30 days. You'll receive a confirmation email when it's complete.
Option 3: By web form
Prefer a form, or asking for something other than deletion — a copy of your data, or a correction? Use the privacy request form. Include the phone number associated with your account.
